When: May 28, 2025, 9am–5pm
Where: WI Flex Room; in-person only
Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Category: Qualitative data analysis
Seats: 20 (in-person)
Abstract: This workshop is for researchers, students, and professionals who are new to MAXQDA and want to learn the basics of qualitative data analysis. It provides a step-by-step introduction to the software’s core features, guiding participants through the main stages of computer-assisted qualitative research. Topics include setting up a project, importing data, coding qualitative material, exploring patterns, creating visualizations, and exporting results. Participants will get to know MAXQDA’s basic tools such as the Document System, Code System, Memo Manager, and Overview of Coded Segments. They will learn how to organize their data, apply and manage codes, write and link memos, and generate visualizations like Word Cloud, Document Portrait, and Word and Code Trends. Export functions for coded segments and reports will also be demonstrated. Each module includes guided hands-on exercises using sample datasets, allowing participants to directly apply what they’ve learned. With these essential skills, participants will be able to continue working with MAXQDA independently and gradually explore more advanced tools as needed. The workshop concludes with a special guest session from Ms Tamara Pataki, a representative of VERBI GmbH (the developer of MAXQDA). This session will introduce the newest features, including AI-based functions, and offer time for questions and discussion.
