Abstract: This two-hour workshop serves as an internal WI exchange on current and planned projects in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP). With Sneha Jha and Dominik Schindler from Imperial College London we have two NLP experts as guests at the Institute and the workshop. Sneha will give an insight into the latest developments in the field of NLP research. Dominik will then present a current project he is working on with the WI research group “Dynamics of Digital Mobilization”. Afterwards, interested WI colleagues have the opportunity to present their own projects or ask questions about NLP and related topics such as machine learning.
Sneha Jha is a postgraduate researcher at Imperial College London. She received a graduate degree in computer science from University of Pennsylvania and worked as a NLP researcher. Her research interests are in machine learning and NLP with a focus on solving problems in health care.
Dominik Schinder is a Ph.D. candidate in Applied Mathematics at Imperial College London and a research fellow at WI. He received an MSc in Applied Mathematics from Imperial College and an MA in Digital Media from Goldsmiths, University of London. Drawing from Network Science and Machine Learning, he develops mathematical tools for the Computational Social Sciences.
Co-organized with the WI research groups “Dynamics of Digital Mobilization” and “Digital Economy, Internet Ecosystem, and Internet Policy“, and the NLP interest group at WI.
